The Information Services Technical Support 3 (Network Administrator) position provides leadership in network focused technical support services and is responsible for the administration and development of district LAN, WAN, and network security.

PURPOSE:    To provide leadership in technical support services for the district’s Technology Services program.
  • Defines, evaluates, and manages technology systems to provide effective and efficient technology services for all district programs.
  • Makes appropriate recommendations to the district regarding purchase and installation of new computer hardware and software consistent with the district’s business and instructional goals.
  • Provides guidance to Technical Support 1 and Technical Support 2 staff in assembly, installation, and maintenance of new computers and related technology to enhance classroom and business environments.
  • Oversees configuration and maintenance of all network equipment.
  • Leads the work of computer network and other data processing staff to provide maximum efficiency of the district’s computer technology systems.  
  • To the extent practical, keeps current with state-of-the-art developments in computer equipment and software, sharing knowledge with users.
  • Maintains, stores, and retrieves information in a timely, accurate, and efficient manner using standard office systems, equipment and software.
  • Performs other related services as assigned.

  • Certification and/or licensing appropriate to the position.
  • Knowledge or experience in current technology and network operation and design systems.
  • Ability to monitor technology advances and to recommend and implement system improvements.
  • Highly skilled in trouble-shooting network systems, computer hardware, and software problems.
  • Ability to evaluate security of the network systems
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff and students in the Technology Services Department.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks.
  • Ability to use office information systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to review, assess, design, and implement service delivery systems.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment in carrying out work requirements.
  • Ability to understand the district’s instructional goals and carry out work assignments in a manner that supports those goals.
  • Ability to travel among district facilities as needed; if driving, the ability to meet district driving standards.
  • Standard First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain certification within two months of hire, may be required.
