Job Description

This posting is for the 2021-2022 school year.  This position will remain open until filled, and we will begin reviewing applications on February 23, 2021.

Permanent location for this position will be determined at a future date.

Position Type: Principal for Pueblo School District No. 60
Pueblo School District No. 60  is seeking a visionary, dynamic leader to work with district leadership and a stakeholder taskforce to develop and open a new K-12 online school in 2021-2022.  
Contract Terms: Two Hundred Thirteen Day (213)

                            Salary Range:  $98,000 - $113,600
Required Qualifications:

  • Valid Colorado Principal License or eligible for within 60 days from date of hire
  • Master's Degree
  • 3-5 years successful school/district leadership experience

 Preferred Qualifications:
  • Valid Colorado Teaching License
  • Previous Principal or Assistant Principal experience
  • Experience and advanced knowledge of school leadership within an online school model
  • Ability to plan and work with a broad array of stake holders
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with K-12 CORE academic content standards, assessment, and professional development
  • Experience working with a diverse population 
  • Completion of advanced coursework or specific experience in one or more of the following areas: Educational Technology, Math, Literacy, Diverse Learner, or Exceptional Student Services
  • Knowledge of and experience with the observation feedback cycle or demonstrated experience as an instructional coach
  • Knowledge of online curriculum platforms

Job Expectations:
  • Work with assigned Executive Director, planning task force and district senior leadership to develop annual budget, identify online curriculum and platform, develop and hire classified and certified staff, select and purchase student and adult technology devices as needed, and develop the program of study for a new online K-12 school
  • Develop a communication and marketing plan for new school 
  • Develop a flexible and innovative student engagement strategy to ensure consistent student enrollment and successful completion of coursework leading to mastery of grade level standards, graduation and preparation for post secondary options
  • Develop and implement an instructional framework that aligns curriculum with state standards, effective instructional practices, student learning needs and assessments
  • Support student engagement within an online learning environment and generate high expectations for learning growth by all students
  • Coordinate intensive individual student academic plans within an online personalized learning environment
  • Participate in and co-facilitate online school planning task force of students, staff, families, and other stakeholders to realize new school initiative and serve as a liaison between teachers, parents, and the community once school opens
  • Conduct evaluations of certified and classified staff and utilize the teacher evaluation process to improve instruction that will increase student achievement
  • Supervise specific level leaders as enrollment dictates
  • Use multiple data sources to make sound instructional decisions; train and support the staff in the use of data, online curriculum
  • Recruit, select and hire school staff including teachers and school-based support staff
  • Provide teacher with feedback coaching to identify innovative engagement progress monitoring, and tutoring models and ensure teachers and staff develop strong relationships and academic support systems to ensure student mastery of standards to increase the quality of instruction 
  • Monitor and provide support for the Exceptional Student Services process and ensure effective implementation of a Multi-Tiered System of Support
  • Plan, lead and monitor the implementation of professional development that is clearly linked to the system-wide strategic objectives, the Unified School Improvement Plan, and innovative online learning environment
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor, Superintendent or designee
